Cru Cafe: Charleston Comfort Food

Submitted by Suzanne Lemon, January 19, 2010
Burger with mac and cheese side

As you know from some of my previous blogs, Charleston is a dining joy - Lowcountry buffets, waterfront discoveries, coconut cake utopia. As I worked my way through town, I sampled some mighty fine mac and cheese along with collard greens, corn bread and other savory Southern sides. But, it wasn’t until I ventured to Cru Cafe that I sampled the best mac and cheese ever, in my humble opinion.

It all started innocently enough. I had already received a couple of recommendations to dine at the spot, but... Read More

You can’t consult your city map to pinpoint the location... Read More

The LoPilato family was on a mission. The Brookline, N.H., family of four wanted to spend its summer vacation at Disney World in Florida, but also wanted to do it inexpensively. As featured today on ABC's "Good Morning America," the family cut their travel costs from an anticipated $4,500 to $2,000 by driving and staying in their RV and using AAA's travel agency services for planning, booking their campsite, purchasing discounted park tickets, getting free maps and TourBook guides and using other AAA travel tools like the Fuel Cost Calculator. Boston In A Weekend

The Boston Bruins

Would it be possible to capture the essence of one of America’s most historic cities in a weekend?  I was determined to find out and to share it with members making travel plans.  I had what I thought was a “short” list of things I wanted to do and thought I could accomplish.  It would be a challenge, but I was convinced I could do it.  That list included nine different goals: 1. Take a DuckTour  2. Walk the Freedom Trail  3. Attend a performance of “Shear Madness”  4. Visit the North End  5. Shop at Filene’s... Read More
